QUIZ BEE ELIMINATION ROUND

Guidelines and Mechanics

 

  1.  An elimination round will be conducted by the Section Adviser in the respective classrooms on November 14 (Monday) from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM. The coverage of the test for Grades 1 to 10 will include English, Filipino, Science/Health, Mathematics, Christian Living Education and History/ Sibika / Hekasi. The questions will be multiple choice type of questions which will consist of the following:

Primary (Grades 1 to 3)   - 12 items (2 questions per subject with 3 choices)

Intermediate (Gr 4 to 6) - 18 items (3 questions per subject with 4 choices)

High School (Gr 7 to 10)  - 24 items (4 questions per subject with 4 choices)

  1. Advisers will check the test of their students. After checking, papers will be submitted to Sir Dodi who will get the names of the top 4 students per grade level.
  2. The students shall observe proper behavior during the elimination round. Any misconduct shown by the students will lead to their disqualification from the contest.

NOTES:

  1. Teachers of Grades 1 to 10 in Math, Science/Health, English, Filipino, CLE, and Sibika / Hekasi/ History will prepare test questions with answer keys for the elimination round to be forwarded to the subject coordinators/teacher in-charge not later than 12:00 noon of November 11  (Friday) for checking and approval.
  2. After collecting and checking the questions by the subject coordinators/teacher in-charge, the whole set of questions for the elimination round will be given to the class advisers. Class advisers of Grades 1 to 3 will type, print and reproduce the set of questions for the elimination round.

The class advisers of Grades 4 to 10 will project on screen the test questions in their respective classrooms during the elimination round.

  1. Questions for the elimination round will cover the lessons from the 1st to 2nd quarter and some of the 3rd quarter. 

 

GENERAL QUIZ BEE:

        Guidelines and Mechanics

  1. The General Quiz Bee will be conducted per department. It shall be participated by the students who will top the Elimination Round in every Grade level. There will be 4 teams competing in each department. The team composition will be announced the day before the General Quiz Bee.
  2. The General Quiz Bee will be on Nov. 17 at BSCS Gym. All participants must be at the venue fifteen (15) minutes before the program starts.  The schedule for each department follows:

Primary – 10:00 A.M

Intermediate – 11:00 A.M

High school – 1:00 P.M

  1. There will be 3 rounds in the competition namely: Easy, Average and Difficult. Each round will be composed of 5 questions with the corresponding points and time limit to answer:

  1. The questions will be read by the quizmaster twice. Contestants can only begin writing their answers after the quiz master has said “Go”, otherwise, they will be given a warning at a maximum of two times.  If the group commits the violation for the third time, it will be disqualified for that particular question.
  2. The contestants should raise their answer boards upon hearing the buzzer signaling that the time is up.  Failure to do so three (3) seconds after the buzzer will disqualify the group for that particular question and will not be given any points even if the answer is correct.
  3. Answers should be written clearly and legibly on the answer board provided.  Abbreviations will not be allowed. Any question or contest on the question or answer shall be resolved by a panel with three members to be designated by the Principal.
  4. The Quizmaster shall read and verify the groups’ answer.
  5. The audience is not allowed to coach any of the contestants. Any misconduct shown by the contestants will lead to their disqualification from the contest.
  6. The group that gets the highest total number of points will automatically be declared the champion.
  7. Winners will receive their prizes and the participants will receive their certificates of participation during the awarding ceremony

NOTES:

  1. Questions for the general quiz bee should cover the lessons from the 1st to 2nd quarter and some of the 3rd quarter.
  2. For the general quiz bee, the questions will be submitted by the subject teachers to the following subject coordinators who will prepare the final questions with answer keys.

CLE             - Ma’am Liz

Math           – Ma’am Jane

Science        – Ma’am Camille

AP               – Sir Wilson

English         – Ma’am Khris Marie

Filipino        – Ma’am Angelica

 

General Quiz Bee:

Primary Level                  - 5 questions per subject

            (1 easy, 1 average, 1 difficult and 2 clincher)

Intermediate Level         - 5 questions per subject

            (1 easy, 1 average, 1 difficult and 2 clincher)

High School                     - 5 questions per subject

  1. easy, 1 average, 1 difficult and 2 clincher)
  1. The set of questions for the general quiz bee will also be forwarded to Ma’am May before November 11 for the preparation of the power point presentation.
